Warren Buffett is Buying Google - His Final Trades Explained

Hey, Zach here!

Sorry to write to you this weekend, but I had a timely update to share with you. Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway just bought over $4 billion of Google stock! I explain the news below.

🚨 Emergency Video

Warren Buffett is Buying Google - His Final Trades Explained

New Warren Buffett Trades

  • A new 13F shows Berkshire Hathaway opened a $4.3B stake in Alphabet (GOOGL) — their largest tech buy since Apple.

  • Buffett (or his team) also trimmed Apple by 15%, which is actually a far larger dollar amount than the Google buy.

  • Google is now their 10th-largest public stock holding.

Buys/Sells – My Take

Google Buy Explained

  • I was loading up heavily on Google in early 2025 when it traded at a forward P/E of 16–17.

  • Berkshire likely bought Google for the same reason I did:
Strong fundamentals + a fair valuation for a dominant tech compounder.

  • Even with massive AI capex, Alphabet’s long-term financial engine remains powerful.

  • Even after the big run, the stock is still only around 26x earnings, which is fair for a company with:

    • Massive AI leadership

    • Strong earnings and revenue growth

    • A fortress balance sheet

    • New dividend + buybacks

  • Future earnings expectations imply a forward P/E near 16 by 2029 — still attractive.

Apple Sell Explained

  • Apple is still a phenomenal business, but growth has slowed significantly since 2020.

  • Much of their EPS growth comes from extreme buybacks ($90B+ per year).

  • Raw fundamentals show:

    • Revenue barely growing

    • Operating and free cash flow drifting lower

    • Net debt now positive at ~$57B

  • At a 36x trailing P/E, Apple trades at a higher valuation than Google — and I don’t think that’s justified.

Was It Buffett?

  • The Google buy was almost certainly an investment manager (not Buffett) — it fits their typical position size.

  • The Apple trim could realistically be Buffett himself, since he's spoken openly about those past trims.

  • With Buffett retiring soon and “going quiet,” this may be one of the final moves we see from him.
